Welcome to Pussycat Lodge!
Pussycat Lodge (PCL) was established over 25 years ago and has since been a focal point for a local group of hard working and dedicated volunteers. We rescue cats primarily across the Brentwood, Basildon, Castle Point, and Chelmsford Boroughs in South Essex. Emergency cases from surrounding areas are dependent on circumstances and available rescue space. We rehome to any area as long as our criteria is met.
We have been very fortunate to have had a main rescue centre in Brentwood with several purpose built pens to cater for the many needy cats and kittens passing through our doors. This was located in the courtyard of our founders home however, she now needs to sell this property and downsize due to escalating health concerns.
For the past 18 months PCL have been working on a new location, which has been a far more complex task than we initially realised!
Our central rescue was able to house up to 50 rescue cats and kittens, enabling us to rescue and rehome around 300 cats per year. PCL are still working on a new location, and are determined to move onto our Next Chapter with the creation of a brand new central rescue space, however this will not happen until sometime in 2026.
In the meantime, we are moving to a foster based system, so we can continue our vital work to support our community as best we can.
